There is no single useful flat price
An initial gap review, supplier questionnaire response, multi-site inventory and full reporting engagement involve different work. A useful quote explains what the adviser will deliver and what your team must provide. No market price range is claimed here because verified comparable fee data has not been established.
Describe the scope precisely
State the entities, sites, reporting period, frameworks, stakeholder requests and required outputs. Clarify whether the work includes data collection, calculations, drafting, workshops, management reviews or implementation support.
Ask what changes the fee
Missing records, additional sites, compressed deadlines, translation, travel and repeated revisions can affect fees. Ask whether these are included, optional or separately charged. Independent assurance, certification and platform fees should be identified separately.
Confirm responsibility and review
Ask who will perform the work, who reviews it and what relevant experience can be verified. Agree management sign-off responsibilities, confidentiality arrangements, the revision process and how any subcontractor or delivery partner will be introduced.
Compare the final output
A low-cost checklist is not equivalent to an evidence-backed inventory or report. Request a written deliverable list, timeline, acceptance criteria and exclusions. Then assess whether the proposed work addresses the specific request that brought you to ESG consulting.
